Cafe Pause

I have been working on a few murals and illustration for cafe Pause located at Sarjapur Road, Bangalore and got done with it a week back. The cafe required artworks that could be used to bring humour on the white walls. The word 'Pause' when put into the context of Bangalore life directed it to the traffic, dug up roads, Saturday night watchdogs and the never ending hikes of Auto-rickshaw fares. Never does a day pass by when one of these issues have spared you. Hence, the cafe Pause worked as a good platform to nit pick on these situations and share some light moments with it. I decided to work with felt tip pens and markers to create illustrations that can be converted to bitmaps and enlarge it large enough for the walls. Although it was quite a painstaking process but the end result left me satisfied. Here are the photographs and final artworks as it happened.

Small Illustrations -

Apart from these illustrations, I had pitched ideas for poster series which later got scrapped due to time constraints. But I am planning to do the poster series as a personal project.

I will put the photographs of the cafe when it's finally ready with all the artworks up on the wall. Lot of things have changed in the earlier planned placement of the murals and I am hoping that the new negotiated arrangement works out well for the murals and the cafe.
All the artworks displayed here belong to Sharath Reddy. Please don't use them anywhere else without permission.

  4. Excellent illustrations, all of them. Very complex to do too. But all the details are so typical of Namma Benglur. Look forward to seeing the pictures on the Cafe wall.

    Totally incredible.
I am so envious of your work on this project.

I have always wanted to do a mural.. Maybe this will give me the inspiration I need.

It was also great to finally see a photo of you at the drawing board.

    Cheers and best wishes

    1. Thanks David, you always have such kind words. How is your wall of sketches doing? You can probably devote one wall for your mural.

    2. Somesh..
The Sketchcrawl Wall is going slowly, I have a number of other people's sketches to frame and others to hang up. I am heading out this morning to my art supply store where they having a special sale on simple black frames. These are all to be hung on my office wall. I also need to contact more sketchcrawlers that produced great sketches in the last few crawls. I am getting behind :-)

I have not done much painting or sketching lately because of my work, but am now trying to get back into painting again, I did some clean up on my blog sites today especially the site at http://davidbfletcher.blogspot.ca where I will be displaying my watercolour portraits. I also did a quick sketch yesterday for my http://cyberdave1.blogspot.ca site.

I was thinking I might try doing watercolour mural directly onto aluminum composite panels instead of paper. Then coat the finished painting with a protective finish. Yes I will need to save an apartment wall for the mural.

Keep on drawing, painting and sketching. I really enjoy your pieces.

    3. Somesh..
I am really looking forward to seeing you mural when it has been done on the wall. I think this will look absolutely incredible and will keep many passers-by amused.

As a piece of art this does what most artists want to achieve. It draws the viewer in to this little world and gets the looking for more. I am still totally in awe even after looking at the drawings so many times.
